Unless you live completely off the grid, your home uses some kind of electricity, and something is bound to go wrong sooner or later. In preparation for electrical problems, here are a few essential facts your electrician wants you to know.

Electrical Installation in Asheville, North Carolina

  1. Warning Signs are Important
    1. Red flags can come in all forms when it comes to potential electrical problems, including a breaker that refuses to reset or is warm to the touch, a GFCI outlet that won’t reset, or a switch that sparks when turned on. Issues like these can usually be resolved quickly and easily, but should be taken seriously. The Neighborhood Electrician is qualified and happy to take the time to make sure your home is safe.
  2. Check Your GFCI
    1. A common call we receive from customers involves their GFCI outlets typically located in their bathrooms, kitchens, or on the exterior of their homes. Many times customers think they’re experiencing an outlet failure, but the GFCI is simply protecting the other outlets on its same circuit. This can usually be fixed by resetting the GFCI outlet located in the area where you are experiencing an apparent failure (ex: if your bathroom outlets aren’t working, try resetting the GFCI in the bathroom). If resetting the outlet doesn’t work, give The Neighborhood Electrician a call to be sure there are no unseen problems.
  3. You Shouldn’t DIY Everything
    1. While there are many projects that are perfectly feasibly to do on your own, others shouldn’t be attempted unless you have significant experience. If you are uncomfortable at all or you believe the problem could be dangerous, give The Neighborhood Electrician a call. We’ll come take a look at it and talk about potential solutions.
